Ethan meets Santa

We took Ethan to Bass Pro Shop today to meet Santa Clause. We got there and they said that we would be in the 4:30 group. So we had 2.5 hrs to kill, we did that by walking around and looking at things. We ended up having to grab a sandwich in the sandwich shop while we waited. Ethan had a blast looking at all the dead animals (yuck!) and was fascinated with the huge fish tank they have there. Once we got in line to see Santa he kept pointing and saying "Santa Clause" but then when it was his turn he did not want to go LMAO, I figured he'd do that. So they told me I could sit with him and Santa could stand next to us. That worked. Once the picture was taken Santa asked Ethan to give him five. Ethan raised his hand but had that look like "Should I?" so I told him to go ahead and he did. It was super cute. Then of course Ethan didn't want to walk away from Santa right away. LOL. The pic is really cute I will have to figure out how to download it or scan it to my computer to share. After that we got his coat on to leave. He kept telling us "See Santa!" all excited that he got to see Santa. It's like one of those stories people tell when they go fishing "You should have seen it. It was THIS big (gesture a 2 ft long fish here)" when in reality the fish was about 6" long.  Except in this version he says he saw Santa when in reality he wouldn't go w/o mommy. LOL he's too cute.

After we got back he helped Matt get started on making Buckeyes calling them "Bucketeyes" he was having a ball rolling the peanut butter and licking the spoon. He is daddy's little helper when he wants to be.

Friday I think I will pull up the Santa tracker on the internet and have Ethan track where Santa is until he goes to bed (if we have time after church). He might find that fun to do and we'll of course read The Night Before Christmas as well since we have made that a tradition since he was born.

Ethan's eventful week

Ethan has had a very eventful week it seems. First last week (Sat) he was in the ER getting a cut taken care of from his collision with a desk. Then Weds he was up stairs with his daddy and wanted to come downstairs to get Moose (b/c we all know Moose needs to be part of the action) so the next thing we know he fell down the stairs and crashed into the gate that was closed at the bottom of the stairs. I was sitting in the living room trying to get Christmas cards done and Matt was putting up plastic on the windows in Ethan's bedroom b/c it's been getting super cold in there. Ethan is OK but he ended up with some brusing on his back and his right leg. Apparently he was looking backward as he took the first step and that's when he fell. I had been on him all week about paying attention to where he is going when he is on the stairs. He has been trying to go up/down the stairs backwards, always looking behind him, just plain being reckless all of a sudden. I have had to walk ahead of him and hold his hand to prevent him from falling. Well needless to say he is now taking caution on the stairs. He is insisting that we either carry him or hold his hand and he grips the railing too. At least he is starting to remember what happens when he isn't careful. He tells me "Stairs, fall" and points to the stairwell. It's good to see that he is learning his lessons but I so wish he would just listen to us so he doesn't have to learn his lesson the hard way. That way we don't end up in the ER or with bruises.

This evening Matt told him that his bandage should be falling off soon as tomorrow is day 7 since he had the Dermabond done. Ethan got upset b/c he doesn't want his bandage to come off. Apparently he thinks that the chicks are digging his bad boy look LOL. It should fall off soon (I hope) it's starting to look a bit dirty. We haven't been allowed to get it wet so we have just been cleaning his face with wet wipes and avoiding that area.

Tomorrow we are taking him to see Santa. He is now talking a little bit about Santa Clause. We showed him the movie "Santa Clause is coming to town" and I've been talking to him about how Santa will be coming soon to bring him goodies from his work shop. This morning he was telling me that his garbage truck is broke so I told him he needs to tell Santa so he can bring him a new garbage truck. I think he is starting to realize that something is going on. He is going to have a nice Cristmas this year. So far Santa is bringing him a guitar, bookcase for his room, Play Doh, & a little car. If he asks for that garbage truck he might just get one.

Boys will be boys

I think the title speaks for itself. Yesterday Matt took Ethan out in the morning to get his blood drawn for another phe level. While he was registering Ethan at the desk, Ethan stood on a chair and reached for a bottle of sanitizer. He fell off the chair and hit his head on the desk giving him a nice little gash. So after getting his blood dawn they headed to the ER to get it checked out. It was deep enough to need some kind of medical attention. Since the cut was so close to Ethan's eye they decided to use skin glue and seal it up that way. So Ethan now has 3 little strips on his face. He's fine and it doesn't seem to bother him one bit. I have a feeling this is going to be the first of many visits to the ER just for Ethan.

This afternoon we took him outside for a bit to play in the snow. He had a lot of fun throwing himself in the snow and running around. We spent some time building a snowman as well. Ethan was not interested in getting it started with me he wanted to be with his daddy who was shoveling the snow off the driveway. Once Daddy was involved Ethan was all about building a snowman. I look forward to the day where we have enough snow to build a giant snowman. The one we built today is small and lopsided LOL but it was fun to make.

Ethan hasn't really been up to too much lately. It's been pretty cold outside so we've just been hanging out in the house playing. Yesterday he spent the day with his daddy while mommy went out Christmas shopping to get presents for Ethan. He is going to have a nice Christmas. Santa will be leaving him nice gifts. We haven't gotten him in to see Santa yet that's something we will have to get done next weekend. I think we will probably go over to Bass Pro shop to get it done as I have been told that pictures with Santa are free there.

He's got a few new things that he is saying now. Earlier today Matt asked him if he poo'd his pants he said "No I farted". It was very hard not to laugh at that. Now when we tell him "I love you" he will come back with "I loooooovvveeee choooooooooo". A few days ago I was getting him ready for a nap and he reached up and grabs me around the neck and said "I hold cho MomMom".  My heart melted. He is growing up so fast and talking so much now. It's hard to believe that he is 2.5 yrs old already. Hopefully he slows down just a little bit I'm not ready for him to turn into a little man yet.
